GTC Telecom Speeds Wireless Service

Seeking to accommodate its users' need for speed, California telco GTC Telecom, Inc. Friday began offering T1 wireless Internet service.

The T1 wireless service is a dedicated high-speed network designed for businesses. Speeds for the T1 service will start from 384kilobytes-per-second, as opposed to a maximum dial-up connection of 56Kbps. Pricing was not disclosed.

Mark Fleming, GTC Telecom's executive vice president, explained that the wireless service is modeled after Intersky, offered by PSINet Inc.. Friday's announcement is part of a strategy to enhance its overall Internet offerings. GTC also provides dial-up access, Web hosting and development.

"We have been able to offer our customers a full service long distance package and it is important to us to continue to expand our Internet services as well," he said. "Customers can now take advantage of an inexpensive, high speed Internet access option offered by our company."
