Google gives publishers more control over news index
Amid mounting criticism from at least one outspoken newspaper publisher, Google said today that it would offer news Web sites more control over how their content is indexed and made available through Google News.
That one publisher, of course, is News Corp. boss Rupert Murdoch, who as recently as yesterday blasted the practice of online aggregation, calling it theft and vowing to begin setting up paywalls for his newspapers' Web sites.
Murdoch had previously threatened to pull News Corp. content from Google's search engine.
Well, many people didn't take his bluster seriously, but just in case, Google has made it a little easier for him if that's the way he wants to go.
