Verizon Taps Cloud for Mobile Security

Verizon Wireless is the largest mobile provider in the U.S., with more than 90 million customers, and many of them are business customers. Those customers need a way to connect to their business networks wirelessly, and to be able to do so securely.

So, Verizon's Business unit has launched a a cloud-based, secure mobile service that builds on its existing mobile services. Enterprise Mobile Today has the story.

Verizon Business this week rolled out a new security-as-a-service portfolio that it says will make it easier and cheaper for enterprise customers to log into corporate networks, share data from mobile devices and enable real-time provisioning from a central location.

"Our new security platform represents a significant shift in how we are delivering security services to large and mid-size clients," Peter Tippett, vice president of technology and innovation at Verizon Business, said in a statement. "By offering security-as-a-service, enterprises can tailor their security solutions to meet the unique needs of their business with the ability to strengthen their security protection at a moment's notice."
