iPhone Tops Smartphone Sector in Satisfaction

Apple continues to retain a loyal customer base in the smartphone sector, with 77 percent of iPhone owners telling the Yankee Group in a recent survey that they plan to buy another device from Apple when it comes time to replace their handset.

While that survey was conducted before the flare-up over the spotty service issues that arose with the iPhone 4, the Yankee Group is confident that Apple will continue to gain market share. Android, Google's open source operating mobile operating system, is poised to become the next breakout smartphone platform, though Yankee researchers acknowledge that the multiple device partners make its adoption difficult to measure.

Enterprise Mobile Today takes a look at the latest jockeying in the smartphone sector among Apple's iPhone, Google's Android and RIM's BlackBerry.


A survey of smartphone users by technology research firm Yankee Group found that satisfaction remains highest among iPhone owners and that Apple is winning customers from other mobile platforms.

The survey was released last week, and was conducted before complaints surfaced about the iPhone's antenna reception issues. Apple recently addressed the reception issue by offering iPhone owners a free case designed to address to the reception problem.
