Android Tops iOS in Developer Outlook

Apple may have ushered in the era of mobile Web application development, releasing tools that eager developers put to work building hundreds of thousands of apps for the popular iPhone device. And the company's App Store remains the largest repository of third-party apps of any comparable platform.

But how do developers feel? According to a new survey from research firm IDC and Appcelerator, a provider of developer tools and services, Google's open source Android operating system enjoys a more favorable view among developers than Apple's iOS. Enterprise Mobile Today takes a look.


Developers are the lifeblood of any device and, according the latest results of a survey conducted by application developer tools and services provider Appcelerator and IDC, Google's Android mobile operating system has more going for it today and into the future than Apple's iOS.

The September survey found that 58.6 percent of the more than 2,300 mobile app developers queried believe Android has a better long-term outlook compared to 34.9 percent for Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) iOS platform.
