Lenovo Laptop to Feature UWB

Lenovo will issue a new ThinkPad, the T61p, on July 17. It will be the first laptop to feature integrated ultrawideband technology. They don’t say, but it's safe to assume it's based on Certified Wireless USB, as other uses for UWB tech haven’t yet made it to public use.

This ThinkPad with 15.4-inch LCD screen and Nvidia Quadro FX 570M graphics will use the new “Santa Rosa” Centrino chipsets from Intel, so it will also support draft 802.11n -- and it'll also be among the first to support Energy Star 4.0. It’s the first upgrade to the Energy Star spec in over 10 years – it now requires much less power consumption when idle.

Starting price on the T61p is $1,814.

Users with previously purchased ThinkPads featuring Centrino Pro or Intel Duo chips will get a download to make them more energy efficient as well.
