WLAN Pocket PC Card Launched

Socket Communications said Wednesday that it has launched a CompactFlash wireless local network (WLAN) adapter for Pocket PC handhelds.
The company said its Low Power Wireless LAN Card has advanced power management to extend the battery life of the handheld. It supports the 802.11b WLAN standard, according to the company.
For security, the card takes advantage of Pocket PC 2002's built-in support for virtual private networks, according to the company. It is a Type I card that also works in Type II slots, Socket said.
The card costs $189 and will be available in November.
