Oracle Grabs Secerno for Database Firewall

Database and enterprise software giant Oracle this week snapped up Secerno, a smaller player in the area of database firewalls -- an increasingly critical security niche.

Database security is consistently in the spotlight thanks to frequent, high-profile breaches that cost companies critical business and consumer data. Not surprisingly, securing these databases is a top priority for IT management, a fact on which Oracle is looking to cash in. Database Journal has the story.

Oracle said it will buy Secerno, a provider of database firewall software, to help customers protect their sensitive business data and comply with regulatory compliance standards.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed but company officials said the transaction should close by the end of June.
