Trend Micro Nabs Cloud Storage Vendor Humyo

Many of the firms that tried to secure your PC are now moving into the cloud, because that's where so many people are storing their important data these days as a hedge against a PC failure. After watching its competitors make big cloud backup acquisitions, Trend Micro decided it was time to get in on the party and bought Humyo, an online storage provider. So what is Humyo and what services does it offer? eSecurity Planet has the details.

After watching competitors make a slew of cloud-related acquisitions in recent months, Trend Micro stepped up to the plate this week by acquiring Humyo, a privately held provider of online storage and file synchronization applications.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

With the purchase, Trend Micro hopes to open up a new revenue stream by selling cloud-based storage and security apps to small businesses and consumers looking to back up and sync their PCs, netbooks and smartphones.
