As enterprise users and consumers increasingly look to the Linux and Mac operating systems as an alternative to Windows, so too grows their demand for applications built for those platforms.
But with the influx of new apps also come security risks.
In response to those concerns, CoreTrace is in the process of developing updated versions of its Bouncer whitelisting technology for Linux and Mac apps.
"In the enterprise market we have had a lot of customers ask us for Red Hat support, there are a lot of Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers out there and there are a lot of people running Red Hat on the desktop," said CoreTrace CTO Dan Teal.
With the new versions of Bouncer, administrators will have a ready-made mechanism for locking down potentially dangerous applications.
