HP Debuts 'Instant-On' Security Framework

HP has been steadily collecting pieces to build out a vigorous security portfolio for enterprise IT. The computing giant has made a number of acquisitions in the space, and this week at the RSA security conference, it's planning to take the wraps off of the latest component of its "Instant-On" portfolio, what it's calling HP Security Intelligence and Response (SIR).

"We're taking a more holistic approach to enterprise security," explained Bill Veghte, executive vice president of HP's Software and Solutions group. Veghte noted that HP's approach focuses heavily on the ways enterprises are managing systems in cloud-computing environments.

"At HP we are aggressively pursuing this opportunity in a cloud context," he added.

SIR, at its core, derives from tools and services from companies that HP acquired over the past year: Tipping Pint, Fortify and ArcSight.
