Google is moving to eradicate downloads that were infected with malware during an attack on some mobile apps in the Android Market last week by remotely wiping them off affected smartphones. Some 50 apps were hacked with malware, affecting about 260,000 downloads from the mobile app storefront. The Internet giant outlined at the Google Mobile Blog several measures it's taking to remedy the compromised handsets as well as steps Google is deploying to safeguard against future Android hacks. Some comments at the blog lauded Google for acting quickly to remove the malware from the Android Market, while others chastised Google for not having a more open line of communication between itself and the app user and developer communities.
