Bruce Schneier: Beware of Cloud Encryption

Security luminary Bruce Schneier knows a thing or two about encryption and cryptography. The author of multiple books on cryptography, Schneier is however somewhat apprehensive about encryption in the new cloud era.

In an in-depth interview with eSecurityPlanet, Schenier explained his view on cloud encryption, which isn't particularly positive. He also detailed some of his own best practices for security and answered the question of which operating system, browser and anti-virus vendor is best.

"As you move stuff to the cloud you lose control of the data," Schneier said. "I might encrypt my data on my network but when I send it up on Dropbox, Salesforce or Google Docs, my encryption policies no longer apply in a lot of cases."
