Cloud Application Management Sees New Players
Datamation looks at moves by commercial open source players Eucalyptus Systems and GroundWork Open Source to combine their technology in a bid to help companies monitor and manage cloud application usage.
Helping enterprises take better control of their cloud computing applications is a fast-growing area in IT, and both companies are leveraging their expertise to cash in: Eucalyptus brings its talents in private cloud technology, while GroundWork can bring to bear its network management and monitoring offerings.
However, though both companies rely heavily on open source, the combined product isn't entirely open.
Cloud technology vendor Eucalyptus Systems is partnering with networking monitoring vendor GroundWork Open Source in a new beta effort called GroundWork Monitor Enterprise Cloud. The new cloud solution aims to provide enhanced cloud monitoring and management capabilities.
