SharePoint Deployments Lack Planning: Study

Microsoft SharePoint has clearly established itself as a major player in the collaboration and document-sharing software space. But a new study by the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) finds that in many instances, actually deploying SharePoint is done without much advance planning, like a business case or financial planning.

That's potentially troublesome considering the sizable and growing importance of collaborative tools like SharePoint to organizations' productivity -- and that poorly planned deployments may hamper team and enterprise effectiveness as a result. CIO Update has the story.


A new survey from an important content management association finds that, although Microsoft's SharePoint collaboration and document sharing server is racking up sales, many deployments lack thorough planning.

The report, from the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM), queried some 624 of its members regarding deployment of Microsoft's (NASDAQ: MSFT) SharePoint Server.
