SAP Warming to Private Cloud

Cloud computing may not be the centerpiece of SAP's business model -- or even close -- but the firm is beginning to embrace the technology, at a measured pace.

With so much buzz surrounding a term so vague as "cloud computing," it's only natural that IT executives would debate the merits of the technology and the extent to which it should hasten the overhaul of established computing models.

That anxiety is evident within SAP, an enterprise-software heavyweight that has been maligned for dragging its feet on the cloud. But a senior executive at the company, presenting in a panel discussion in Silicon Valley, said that SAP is warming to the cloud, but that it's going to pick its spots.

Datamation has the details on what SAP's Kaj Van de Loo had to say, and reports the comments of his fellow panelists.
