VMware Updates Hyperic System Management

Managing and monitoring Web application performance has always been a key concern for enterprises, and with many moving more of their core datacenter apps into a more virtualized environment, the task becomes increasingly complex. Meanwhile, SpringSource's Hyperic had appealed to many looking for an open source solution for managing their Java apps. And with SpringSource's acquisition by virtualization giant VMware last year, the stage became set for marrying the two companies' technologies.

Now VMware is releasing a new update to Hyperic, aimed at providing server administrators with even more fine-tuned control over their virtualized applications, including tighter links with vSphere and vCenter. Server Watch has the story.

VMware's SpringSource division this week is launching a new version of its Hyperic system management and monitoring technology. The new Hyperic 4.4 release provides improvements to users of VMware virtualized environments enabling more granular monitoring control.

All of the improved VMware integrations are found in the commercial enterprise version of Hyperic 4.4 with a subset available to open source users of Hyperic. The Hyperic 4.4 release comes as VMware continues to integrate the technology assets it acquired as part of its purchase of SpringSource in 2009.
