Adobe Soups Up Flash Media Server

At a conference on digital media in Amsterdam this week, Adobe plans to take the wraps off of its new Flash Media Server 4 portfolio, offering a trio of products geared for businesses of varying sizes with different online media requirements.

At the high end of the line is the Flash Media Enterprise Server 4, which Adobe describes as built for "massive social media applications," and uses a novel peer-to-peer technology to deliver video. DevX previews the release.

Adobe Systems released the Adobe Flash Media Server 4 family of software products Thursday, including a new version that uses peer-assisted Real Time Media flow Protocol (RTMFP) technology to slash bandwidth requirements.

Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE) said it plans to publicly debut the latest version of the software family Friday at the IBC 2010 show in Amsterdam that focuses on digital media.
