Novell Debuts Tool to Manage Private Clouds

There's no shortage of hype surrounding cloud computing. Cloud vendors talk up the cost savings, efficiency improvements and security advantages of the emerging, service-oriented model. But the actual logistics of transitioning an enterprise's IT assets are anything but easy.

Novell is looking to address that challenge with its new Cloud Manager solution, enabling businesses to more easily establish a private cloud infrastructure. Novell's Cloud Manager solution supports the virtualization hypervisors offered by VMware, Microsoft and Xen, and works with both Linux and Windows operating systems. Datamation takes a look.


While there is a lot of talk about the cloud as a deployment model for enterprise IT, actually building a cloud infrastructure remains a daunting task. That's where Novell is aiming to come in with its new Cloud Manager solution.

According to Novell (NASDAQ: NOVL), Cloud Manager enables enterprises to transform their IT assets into a service-based cloud model, providing for the creation, management and deployment of on-demand services to users of an enterprise private cloud.
