Microsoft SBS Release Candidate Hits the Market

Microsoft doesn't make all of its product announcements and launches splashy affairs.

Such was the case with the Small Business Server (SBS), which Microsoft quietly pushed to the "release candidate" stage last week. In Microsoft's parlance, the release candidate is the final testing phase in a product's development before the full public release.

With Windows Small Business Server 2011, which had been codenamed Aurora, Microsoft is offering small businesses the ability to tap into its cloud infrastructure.

"Demand for online services is growing fast all over the world, especially in the small business space. Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials has been designed to facilitate the connection to the cloud with its integration between on-premise and online services," Microsoft said.
