CA Introduces BrightStor(TM) Enterprise Backup

Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced the availability of BrightStor Enterprise Backup, the first product made available in the company's new BrightStor storage family of solutions. According to the company, BrightStor Enterprise Backup has been benchmarked at a full 1.56 terabytes-per-hour of "hot" online backup.

"This innovative solution is proof-positive that CA remains the unquestioned leader in eBusiness storage for even the most complex computing environments."
CA says thatBrightStor Enterprise Backup provides:
-- Scalable support for a complete range of platforms, applications, databases and storage systems, including Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices and Storage Area Networks (SAN) on Windows NT/2000 and UNIX. -- Cost-reducing manageability via a highly intuitive GUI and cross platform domain architecture that make it easy for administrators to implement effective, consistent backup policies across complex enterprise environments. -- Integration with leading applications and storage technologies, such as EMC's TimeFinder.
CA also says that BrightStor Enterprise Backup can perform relational database backup in "serverless" mode over SANs and the ability to dynamically share tape drives between Windows and UNIX servers in a SAN, as well as complete bare metal disk-based disaster recovery for UNIX.
BrightStor Enterprise Backup is certified in multiple languages, including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
