Vixel Corporation , a provider of storage area networking (SAN) solutions, today announced that its Fibre Channel fabric switch certifications have more than tripled over last year's levels.
"We believe the steep rise in our certifications is a reflection of the market-leading products Vixel has developed," says Beth White, vice president of marketing for Vixel. "The industry's strong response to our 9000 Series two gigabit fabric switches has driven certification efforts with a host of new partners. Independent test results confirm what our partners and early adopter customers already know -- that the 9000 Series is the industry performance leader. In addition, because switch interoperability offers a more level playing field to the end-user community, storage vendors and end users alike are naturally more inclined to gravitate towards products and partners that offer the best value proposition. With the addition of our Solutions and Interoperability Lab this past December, Vixel initiated an aggressive industry certification effort to clear the way for broad adoption of our switch offerings."
"We've now completed certification of Vixel's 2Gb/s 9000 Series switches with Chaparral's 2Gb/s A8526 RAID controller and 2Gb/s 2620 router," says Robert Selinger, executive vice president and chief technology officer of Chaparral Network Storage. "Our devices plug in, configure easily and perform very well together. This readies a significant portion of the 2Gb/s SAN interconnect infrastructure for end users."
"Cambex (OTCBB:CBEX) and Vixel have completed interoperability and certification testing of our respective 2Gb/s products and we are pleased with the performance levels attained between our 2Gb/s FibreQuik(TM) PC2000 HBAs and Vixel's 9000 Series switches," says Phil Kountz, vice president of OEM sales for Cambex Corporation. "With auto sensing and negotiation between 1 and 2Gb/s speeds, the combination of our products can help end users make the transition to 2Gb/s SANs."
"There's a common thread running through products such as Texas Memory Systems' RAM SAN 500 solid state disk and Vixel's 9000 Series 2 Gb/s switches -- transition to next generation performance levels," says Paul Kaler, Vice President of Technology for Texas Memory Systems. "Our solid state disk products, the World's Fastest Storage, have already been certified with Vixel's 7000 series switches and we are now working diligently with Vixel's interoperability engineers to complete certification of the new 9000 series 2Gb/s switches."
"LSI Logic and Vixel have partnered on many storage solutions, bringing value and ease of implementation to our mutual customers," said Robert Anderson, director of the LSI Logic host bus adapter business group. "As such, it was a natural extension of our relationship to complete testing and certification of our 2Gb/s HBAs with Vixel's 9000 Series switches. Vixel and LSI Logic will continue to work together to help end users migrate to 2Gb/s SAN technologies."
