Streaming Media Corp. (SMC) and Inktomi Corp. Wednesday announced an agreement under which SMC will integrate Inktomi Media Products technology across its North American network.

The Inktomi media distribution platform provides SMC with core software-based infrastructure technology for centralized network management and broadband content distribution, to deliver, monitor and enhance online live and scheduled replay programming to large-scale audiences.

The deployment of the Inktomi Media Products technology, including MediaBridge software, MediaBridge ServerLink and Broadcast Manager suite, will further enable SMC to distribute and manage live streaming media content at its Streaming Origination Center (SOC) in Denver, Colorado, to all the SMC Streaming Distribution Centers (SDC). Additionally, Inktomi's streaming media solution will enable SMC to prioritize traffic and establish different classes of service offerings, allowing for flexible value-based billing options for its customers.
