AudioBase, which specializes in streaming audio Tuesday unleashed AB3, its new of a free MP3 streaming applet targeted at the Web developer community.
The free download, available at Sausalito, Calif.-based company's developer portal, provides demos using AB3, user forums, support information, and an easy to use online code generation application built to ease the integration of AB3 into a developer's Web page.
The idea for the applet is to get audio into your Web site without needing to use plug-ins, which can add download time to sites.
Company execs say the plan is to grow the overall market for Internet audio, broaden the use and awareness of AudioBase's seamless streaming technologies, and seed the market for AudioBase's Enterprise solutions.
"The 'Audible Web' has always been our vision," says AudioBase CEO David Haynes. "Getting our unique and powerful technology in the hands of the people that create the Web experience will help that vision become a reality. Through our new Web developer initiative, we are bundling components of our core technology and distributing it at the grass roots level."
This support site has demos using AB3, user forums, support information, and an online code generation application built to fit AB3 into a developer's Web page.
In the coming weeks, AudioBase will release additional freeware and shareware applets that use JavaScript API, as well as an audio encoder. A DreamWeaver Extension is also pegged for a future release.
