Popular search engine/portal AltaVista Wednesday added to its services by choosing Intervu Inc. to provide streaming media services to the site.

In particular, Intervu (ITVU) will Webcast an upcoming performance by Lauryn Hill to launch the new AltaVista network. AltaVista will host the performance live from New York City's Irving Plaza, beginning at 4:00 p.m. EDT on Monday, October 25.

Intervu will deliver the live concert event over its patented, distributed network, which offers capacity to scale upon demand and manage and deliver large audio and video files over the Internet to audiences of any size.

"We are confident that Intervu's experience, proven track record and capabilities will help make this event a tremendous success," said Ross Levinsohn, general manager and VP of New Media, AltaVista.

"We are confident that Intervu's patented distributed network will be able to meet the demands of the high volume of users that are expected to log onto this major Internet event with highest quality audio and video available on the Internet today," said Ed Huguez, chief operating officer of Intervu.
