A strategic alliance Wednesday has opened the doors for users of Internet music software developer Earjam.com to access legally available music from more than 1,000 Websites through partner Listen.com.

Terms of the deal were not available.

Sean Ryan, vice president of business development for Listen.com, said the co-branded site would allow Earjam users to find music by superstars and up-and-coming artists.

"Earjam was founded on the idea of enabling customers to find, download, play and burn music," said Dave Ulmer, president and chief executive officer of Earjam.com. "By integrating Listen's robust download directory, our customers will have instant access to a huge array of music on the net."

Earjam unveiled its Internet Music Player, a player/burner and "audiobot," in January. The software can play MP3s, Windows Media files, audio CDs and more than a dozen additional formats, transfer music to devices such as the Diamond RIO and Creative Nomad, as well as burn CDs that play in any standard CD player.

The IMP's audiobot technology helps users find music they like by using user-defined preference filters.
