The Macintosh specialists at TidBITS.com have again teamed up with Wi-Fi pundit/specialist Glenn Fleishman (of Wi-Fi Networking News fame), and the result is a new electronic book called “Take Control of Your 802.11n AirPort Extreme Network.” This is an update on their previous book on the 802.11b/g Airport.

The new Apple Airport Extreme debuted in January 2007, and is the vendor’s entry into the 802.11n gateway/router market; Apple has quietly built 11n chips into its laptops for some time.

The book covers extending range with the Airport Extreme, configuring security with WPA, picking the right channel and radio band (11n supports both 5GHz for compatibility with 802.11a and 2.4GHz for compatibility with 11b/g), and more advanced topics like using the router with the new Apple TV set-top box and plugging in external, shareable storage.

The 154-page e-book costs $10 and is available from TidBITS’ Take Control Ebooks series. A free 29-page sample is available.
