Facebook continues dominating the social networking landscape, surpassing 350 million users. But that growth also continues prompting changes in other areas, like privacy. eSecurity Planet has the details on Facebook's new privacy controls -- a shift that takes it further away its origins as a college-oriented networking site.
In a blog post late Tuesday night, Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company is abandoning its regional networks, the groupings of users devised by where they live, that had guided the company's approach to privacy.
Zuckerberg also took the occasion to note that Facebook has now signed up more than 350 million users.
"As Facebook has grown, some of these regional networks now have millions of members and we've concluded that this is no longer the best way for you to control your privacy," he said.
