i-BURST Establishes New Broadband Wireless Standard

ArrayComm Inc. announced today at Telecom99 in Geneva the introduction of its i-BURST technology, a broadband wireless IP application of its patented and commercially proven IntelliCell adaptive smart antenna (spatial processing) technology.
i-BURST technology is designed to make portable broadband wireless IP connectivity as inexpensive, commonplace and reliable as wireline telephony.
It is designed for the deployment of low-cost, ubiquitous, high-speed wireless data networks at significantly lower cost than today's cellular data solutions.
Operating on as little as 5 MHz of unpaired spectrum, i-BURST claims to outperform today's cellular data solutions by over 400 times and tomorrow's third generation solutions by more than 40 times.
i-BURST is based on the company's patented IntelliCell technology and reduces the cost of necessary spectrum, the time and cost of building wireless infrastructures, and the expense of operating the access network.
"With few exceptions, the power of the Internet today is constrained by time and space -- bound to the desktop by cords, cables and telephone lines, its access limited to work, home or the occasional kiosk. Despite this, it has become a dominant influence in society," said Martin Cooper, Chairman and CEO of ArrayComm.

i-BURST technology is targeted at key segments of the wireless data market to appropriately leverage the system's core attributes. In the United States alone, the initial market consists of over 50 million potential small office/home office, small-to-medium-size enterprise, and corporate users.
In the broader mass market, i-BURST technology will enable a myriad of high speed Internet access appliances from laptop computers to convergent entertainment "set top" boxes to next-generation tele-data access devices.
The system is designed to maintain robust connectivity between the user and the Internet and eliminate the interference and dropped connections often associated with cellular use, with a fraction of the number of base stations required by conventional cellular systems.
Applicatins range from e-shopping to accessing online maps to high-bandwidth streaming audio and video, lightning-quick networked 3D gaming, connecting to office LANs, emergency medical, fire and police applications and more.
