Palm Inc. and Siebel Systems Inc. Tuesday expanded their existing alliance to jointly market and sell a suite of mobility sales solutions.

Palm's enterprise customers will now have access to Siebel Sales Handheld 7, a Palm OS version of the company's Siebel 7 eBusiness software applications suite. Sales Handheld 7 includes accounts, activities, calendar, contacts, employees, expenses, opportunities, price lists, products and quotes management features. Also, using Siebel tools, customers can customize the user interface, business rules and captured data.

"By using a Palm handheld, mobile sales professionals can now be even more effective in the sales process," said Bill McDermott, executive vice president of Worldwide Sales Operations for Siebel.

To prove their confidence in the solution, Siebel and Palm announced each company will internally deploy Siebel Sales on Palm handhelds, saying the solution will increase productivity and revenues generated by their sales professionals.

"As a result of this expanded alliance, Palm and Siebel Systems will provide customers with a joint solution to meet the demands of the most competitive companies in the world -- those that realize that readily available information is crucial to provide the best customer service and efficiently generate maximum sales," said Todd Bradley, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Solutions Group at Palm.
