eCommerce.com, Extant-Asia Plan E-Commerce Portal for China

eCommerce.com Inc. and Extant-Asia Limited signed a partnership agreement and said they plan to launch an e-commerce portal for Greater China under the name China.eCommerce.com by the second quarter.

The portal will be a multi-lingual e-commerce portal focused on business-to-business and business-to-consumer transactions into and out of the Greater China market, the companies said.

“This venture is a logical extension of our recently launched e-commerce portal in the United States which is powered by Myway.com, a CMGI company,” said David C. Elmore, chairman of eCommerce.com.

Extant is a national facility based clearinghouse provider serving companies in the wholesale marketplace. Extant provides a single source for administering end-to-end termination with every other local service provider in the Extant Community.

The service
allows for on-line traffic arbitrage and settlement of charges between the community members through a single statement.

“Partnering with eCommerce.com allows us to combine the management and development forces of the two companies,” said Extant-Asia Managing Director David Lai. “The partners and strategic relationships of the combined groups have the depth and
strength to build China.eCommerce.com as the leading Web portal in China.”

eCommerce.com, recently acquired by Cybanetix.com L.P., has clients that include Time Warner’s Sports Illustrated, Turner Online, The National Football League (NFL), Yahoo, Lucent, Rodale Press, World Championship Wrestling, Entertainment Weekly, Philips North America, Monsanto and ATT.

The company is currently building an international e-commerce portal powered by MyWay.com. Phase II, expected to be launched on March 1, 2000, will add services and shopping with strategic partners and with several company-owned and developed businesses. Phase III will include a full business-to-business portal which plans to go
live on July 1, 2000 in English, and Chinese.
