Digex, Inc. Digex says it is offering the Akamai EdgeSuite service to its enterprise clients as an integrated function aimed at extending the performance of content delivery and dynamic content across an entire Web site.
The service operates by utilizing intelligent routing technology that connects end-user requests to the most optimal server within Akamai's distributed computing platform.
Digex says its Application Optimization Center (AOC) will offer full support for Akamai clients providing pre- and post-production application enhancement and deployment services. Other AOC services include testing, migrations, profiling and code review.
"As the demand for our online publishing products continues to grow, we have experienced a greater demand for a content and application delivery solution that incorporates whole site delivery, business intelligence, and global reach for smoother client transactions," says Chris Hogg, director, Web and new media services at Houghton-Mifflin Company, a Digex customer.
"The addition of the EdgeSuite solution to Digex's services enables us to realize the benefits of massive scalability while offering greater performance from our Web infrastructure," he adds
"Digex is uniquely equipped to offer Akamai's e-business infrastructure solutions and bring customers more efficient ways to integrate their enterprise computing requirements with Internet technologies," says Michael Ruffolo, executive vice president, global sales, services, and marketing, Akamai.
Says Martha Gilbertson, vice president of product management at Digex: "We're pleased to expand upon our existing relationship with Digex and demonstrate the combined benefits of distributed edge computing and managed web hosting. As our clients' sites become more complex, we are committed to offering them innovative technologies to enable them to use the Internet as a strategic tool for business."
