Yahoo Smiles Big For Flickr

Online photo management company Flickr has been snapped up by search and online media giant Yahoo , the company said.

The Flickr service allows users to upload digital photos from computers and camera phones, organize photo albums and attach photos to blogs.

Yahoo's acquisition of the site and its operator, Vancouver-based Ludicorp Research and Development, comes less than a month after Yahoo chief Jerry Yang announced that his company intended to improve the photo and community aspects of its Web site.

And last week, the company announced Yahoo 360, a service that combines a blogging tool with several Yahoo products, including instant messaging, Internet radio and photo storage and sharing and.

Yahoo 360 also offers tools for sharing recommendations about places to eat, favorite movies, music and other social networking components.

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
