Agilera Hosts Oracle Apps for SmartMail

Agilera, a leading full-service pure-play ASP, Thursday (Jan 11) announced that SmartMail, LLC, the emerging leader of expedited flat-sized mail and light parcel shipping services, has selected Agilera's Extended Enterprise (XE) as its platform to support its Oracle financial applications. Agilera will assist in implementation and will host the Oracle E-Business Suite for SmartMail including Oracle Financials, Order Management, Financial Intelligence and applications for online sales and marketing.

Steve Murdock, chief financial officer of SmartMail, estimates a 30 percent savings over current in-house costs by outsourcing the Oracle E-Business Suite through Agilera. SmartMail chose Agilera because of its strong track record of managing Oracle applications and its ability to implement and host the company's Oracle financial application in an extremely short period of time. Relying on Agilera's experience in hosting Oracle applications enables SmartMail to focus on its prime business objective of providing value to large volume mailers.

"SmartMail's high-growth rate required finding a reliable partner who could help us manage our growth intelligently," explained Murdock. "We came to Agilera with an extremely aggressive implementation schedule. In less than 10 weeks, Agilera was able to get the first phase of our Oracle implementation up and running. With Agilera, our company has immediate access to the applications we can benefit from today. More importantly, we know that as SmartMail continues to grow, Agilera has the capability and expertise to provide us with the latest integrated products and services to put us ahead of our competition."

As one of the first Oracle Authorized Application Providers in Oracle's iHost initiative, Agilera brings SmartMail the full Oracle E-Business Suite through its XE technology.

"By taking on the management, maintenance and implementation of its financial applications, we enable SmartMail to continue focusing on its core business and growth without concern for the stability of its infrastructure. This results in an increased ability to take advantage of the emerging technologies that will enable SmartMail to continue to grow and expand its business," said Agilera president and COO Robert Unger.

Through its innovative business model and work-share partnership with the USPS, SmartMail collects business customers' flat size mail pieces and lightweight parcels, individually processes them, verifies the weight and address of each piece and routes them to the final USPS delivery destination through a combination of the USPS' expedited services network along with SmartMail's own expedited delivery network, maximizing delivery.
