Salesforce, Microsoft Bury the Hatchet

Salesforce.com has been making inroads into the CRM software sector since its debut as a software-as-a-service alternative to deployed solutions. Not surprisingly, that put Salesforce at odds with vendors like Microsoft -- and the two have been at each other's throats ever since.

More recently, that sparring has moved into the realm of patents, with Salesforce and Microsoft each accusing the other of infringing on their intellectual property. Now, however, the two archrivals have agreed to settle their mutual complaints. eCRM Guide has the story.

Microsoft and Salesforce.com have settled their competing patent infringement suits against each other.

"We are pleased to reach this agreement with Salesforce.com to put an end to the litigation between our two companies," Horacio Gutierrez, deputy general counsel of intellectual property and licensing at Microsoft, said in a statement.
