Sun Unveils New RAD Tool for JavaFX

JavaFX could benefit from a new tool designed to simplify creation of RIAs, though the new plug-in will only be available in an early form from Sun. Developer.com reports.

Just because Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: JAVA) is on the verge of being acquired by Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) doesn't mean that it isn't still building new tools.

Most recently, that included a new Rapid Application Development (RAD) tool for JavaFX that aims to help Sun grow its adoption and usage. Sun has been working on JavaFX since at least 2007 as a challenger to AJAX , with the first official JavaFX release coming out a year ago.

JavaFX, of course, is a Java-based platform for building rich Internet applications (RIAs) that can run on computers or mobile devices. While JavaFX offers powerful capabilities on its own, having tools that can help developers to rapidly take advantage of those capabilities is critical.
