New HP Rack, Blade Servers Aim for Consolidation

HP's ten new Proliant G7 rack and blade servers incorporate the latest processors from AMD and Intel and a host of enhancements aimed at cutting expenses through massive server consolidation.

Each of the new servers offers a sweeping array of improvements -- including a new architecture called PREMA and increased memory capacity and performance -- that HP says deliver more bang for the buck and help enterprises reduce server sprawl. ServerWatch takes a look at the numbers.

Hewlett-Packard introduced a new series of ProLiant G7 blade and rack servers on Tuesday that are designed to deliver better performance with the latest Intel and AMD processors, while reducing the amount of time needed to keep them running.

The release is a continuation of HP's converged server strategy that aims to simplify access to computer, networking and storage resources.
