Next Patch Tuesday Features Only Three Patches

Microsoft's monthly Patch Tuesday release of bug fixes rightfully gets a lot of attention from IT and security professionals.

But as eSecurity Planet reports, next week's Patch Tuesday release will be relatively light. The three fixes contrast with the 16 patches Microsoft released last month. But as the article explains, Microsoft shops should still take notice as one of next week's patches is rated "critical" for Office 2010.

Some systems managers may get a little gift before the holidays start this year.

Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) will deliver only three security patches next week for its regular Patch Tuesday bug fix drop -- and only one of them qualifies as "critical" -- the highest severity in the company's four-tier security ranking scale.
