Picolight, a builder of fiber optic transceiver subsystems, announced this week that it has entered volume production for three optical subsystem products.
According to Picolight, these transceiver subsystems target short-reach optical-networking connections, including optical switch interconnect, optical enterprise and storage area networks (SANs), and optical metro/access networks.
Stan Swirhun, CEO and president of Picolight said, "We are uniquely positioned to supply optoelectronic subsystems in volume for switch interconnect, enterprise and storage area networks and metropolitan/wide area networks delivering high-speed data transmission services."
Picolight's first volume products focus on the optical enterprise and include a 1- and 2-Gbps Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) link with LightHouse(TM) cage; a 1 Gbps Small Form Factor (SFF); and a 1 Gbps pluggable Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC) for Ethernet-based switches and hubs, and SANs.
