Divine inc., a Chicago-based company that offers enterprise portal, managed and professional services, today announced plans to support the Sun ONE Portal Server 6 and the Sun ONE architecture for Web services.
Formerly iPlanet Portal Server, the Sun ONE Portal Server is designed to offer an aggregation point for content, applications and services necessary to build, manage and maintain portals.
According to a statement released by Divine, its Portal Drivers solution program, divine Content Server and divine Enterprise Content Center portlets will be available for customers to deploy content management and premium content within the Sun ONE Portal Server framework.
“Divine’s Portal Drivers provide our customers with a unique offering of content services that will increase the effectiveness of their portal initiatives,” said John Fanelli, director of product marketing portal products for Sun Microsystems.
The divine Content Server will allow enterprise users to contribute, manage and publish content through customized channels created by the Sun ONE Portal Server. Business users can create content in other applications and incorporate the data, divine said.
divine Enterprise Content Center is designed to provide single-point access to all of an enterprise’s external digital content through the portal. For example, customers can control and manage their information expenditures, while enabling portals with a single-point access to more than 12,000 content streams.
“We chose to work with Sun because the Sun ONE Portal Server is acknowledged as a leader in the portal market,” said divine Chief Alliance Officer Katharine Wolanyk. “The combination of the Sun ONE Portal Server and the divine Portal Drivers program will enable our joint customers to benefit from higher productivity and lower operating costs, while increasing the value of the portal for customers and partners by improving communications and collaboration.”
The portlets for the Sun ONE Portal Server provide companies with the following content management and delivery services:
- Content Contributor Portlet enables anyone in an organization to
contribute content for the portal using the applications they already
know (e.g., Microsoft Word). The content is automatically saved
into the content repository and available for editing. - Content Approval Portlet enables content managers to edit and
preview content for the portal, helping to ensure content accuracy and
compliance. - Content Management Portlet provides administrators access to the
divine Content Server from the Content
Management Portlet, allowing them to perform tasks such as
manipulating the site structure or adding new content types. - Content Delivery Portlet delivers to the portal content generated
internally through the content management system, as well as external
news feeds. - Real-Time News Portlet allows customers to procure, deliver and manage
real-time information feeds from premium sources. - Content e-Procurement Portlet enables customers to search and order
knowledge resources from more than 200,000 premium content sources,
both hard-copy and electronic. - Premium Publications Portlet provides a gateway to a large
XML repository of business information. - Federated Search Portlet enables users to search across all information
sources, including real-time news, premium publications and
applications. - Tracker allows administrators to track and analyze content usage data
by source, user and timeframe to fine-tune information investments
based on actual use.
