The UK’s largest Internet service provider Wednesday said it is turning to Silicon Valley for help securing its broadband customers.

The new deal between British Telecom and McAfee allows the Mountain View, Calif.-based online security company to be top priority when pitching BT Broadband users that are looking for personal firewall, anti-virus and privacy services.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed but in a press release, McAfee said the partnership is another step in the company’s effort to extend its reach of managed, Web-based security solutions to the growing European broadband market.

“Our agreement with BT is another important step for us to expand our growing presence in Europe,” said McAfee.com vice president of worldwide marketing Atri Chatterjee. “We will bring exceptional security expertise and the highest quality anti-virus, firewall and privacy solutions to the thousands of UK broadband users.”

Under the agreement BT Broadband users will be able to test the waters with trial versions of McAfee.com Personal Firewall, McAfee.com VirusScan Online and McAfee.com Privacy service via a link on the BT Web site.

McAfee.com’s deal making has certainly not been distracted by a plan to merge the company back into its former parent company, Network Associates .

Recently, McAfee inked a deal with Microsoft to protect MSN customers. McAfee has even extended itself to the peer-to-peer sector with the addition of Morpheus and Blubster as new customers.
