Cable & Wireless Wins $70 Million Freei Deal

Cable & Wireless USA Wednesday
won a $70 million wholesale Internet connectivity deal
with Freei.Net.

The 12-month-old free Internet access provider tapped Cable & Wireless (CWP)
for the capacity to add 10 million subscribers to its customer base.

Zie Rivers, Cable & Wireless North America president, said C&W is riding
the wave of increased demand for free Internet access.

“Freei.Net is offering the next wave in Internet service to consumers; free
access, which is seeing substantial demand as an alternative to traditional
ISPs,” Rivers said. “Our expertise and top tier network make us an ideal
partner to free ISPs like Freei.net.”

Bob McCausland, Freei.Net president and chief executive officer, said the
partnership was important to its ability to execute Freei.Net’s marketing
strategy.

“The alliance allows Freei to advance several key goals, including that of
redefining Internet access, and giving users dial tone on-demand, no matter
where they live,” McCausland said.

Freei.Net is based in Seattle, Washington and currently provides free
Internet access to more than 1.5 million subscribers.

Cable & Wireless operates a global telecommunications network providing
service to customers in 70 countries.
