iUpload, a content management services (CMS) ASP, today announced that it is merging with WebPartz, a provider of hosted e-business component applications such as online surveys, e-mail marketing, newsletter publishing, site wide search and wireless applications.
The companies report that they expect no staff reductions (WebPartz currently employs five and iUpload 12 employees). The merger is designed to allow the newly formed company, which will operate under the iUpload brand, to expand its service to include staff-generated, application-generated and visitor-generated content. To date, Burlington, Ontario-based iUpload has focused on managing content create by a customer’s staff. Mississauga, Ontario-based WebPartz’ technology is designed to incorporate into a Web site content from applications and site visitors.
“iUpload and WebPartz have very similar visions,” David Carter, founder of WebPartz said. “By merging, we’re able to deliver that vision immediately. We’re adding WebPartz’ functions for managing content from applications and site visitors to iUpload’s excellent interface to manage staff-generated content. We’ll get better market traction and build momentum faster as a combined entity.”
Marketing departments, for example, can blend partz (the company’s term for component applications) into a solution that best suits their needs. iUpload’s content management application will serve as the interface to the other partz, which is designed to eliminate the need to have four or five applications operating separately.
“Combining iUpload with WebPartz will allow the new company to attract customers interested in broader e-Business solutions, not just content management solutions,” Robin Hopper, president and CEO of iUpload said. “Both companies’ functions and partz are available for customers now. Initially, there may be different interfaces, but in the not-too-distant future, there will be a seamless integration.”
