Citrix Strengthens Presence in China

Looking to extend its presence in China and tap the growing IT market there, infrastructure software giant Citrix Systems (NASDAQ: CTXS) today announced that Vadas Asia, a Hong Kong-based IT distribution company, is now an authorized distributor for Citrix in China.

Under terms of the agreement, Vadas will provide Citrix’s application-serving and portal solutions to value-added resellers and system integrators that specialize in enterprise application deployment solutions in the China marketplace. The announcement expands Citrix’ presence in China. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based company announced a similar agreement last August with Beijing-Stone Investment Co.

“Our agreement with Vadas will increase Citrix’s presence in the

southern part of China at a time when more and more businesses are realizing

the benefits of application-server computing and portal services,” said

Andrew Chan, Citrix’s director for north Asia.

Market research company IDC predicts that IT expenditures in China will more than double in three years, growing from $16.1 in 2000 to $33.8 billion in 2003.

Michael Chau, country manager for Vadas Asia said that the agreement will allow its customers to “benefit from secure applications access with low Total Cost of Ownership via Citrix’s solutions.”

Through its application-serving software Metaframe and NFuse and XPS portal software, Citrix’ goal is to provide access to any application through any device and over any connection.
