Commtouch (Nasdaq: CTCH ), which specializes in e-mail and messaging, Monday says it has established a working relationship with Santa Clara-based chip making giant Intel (Nasdaq: INTC).

The prime purpose of the partnership is to help application service providers (ASPs) who are looking for an enterprise-grade e-mail and messaging system.

Mountain View-based Commtouch’s messaging solutions and software include Microsoft Exchange, open standards Web mail and collaboration and onsite messaging.

The agreement means that Intel will supply Commtouch with some technical resources, help the company access to new channels for it to sell its products and services, and assist Commtouch with forming strategic technical and marketing alliances with companies with which Intel is familiar.

In return, Commtouch will support IEBC (Intel e-Business Center).

“Credibility and longevity is key in the B2B marketplace in which ASPs provide
infrastructure and applications to service providers,” says Commtouch CTO and president Amir Lev. “We expect our close working relationship with Intel to heighten the performance of e-mail and messaging.”

Commtouch says it expects to target the service provider industry including telcos, data centers, ISPs and ASPs.
