Equant (NYSE: ENT) (Paris Bourse: EQU) Tuesday (Feb 13) announced it has signed an agreement with Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HWP) to further integrate HP OpenView service management tools into Equant’s global support centers, extending the reach of Equant’s managed services and improving global service management.

Equant already uses HP OpenView in managing the world’s largest seamless data network and now extends its industry-leading capabilities to the local area network, desktop and server farms worldwide. Equant will deploy the sophisticated management system at its global support centers, which deliver Equant’s managed messaging, security, hosting and desktop management services.

Equant already provides complete e-business services for multinational corporations requiring management of complex multi-vendor solutions. HP OpenView will enable Equant to consolidate event and performance management from a broad range of hardware and software platforms into a single HP OpenView infrastructure. This unitary management environment supports Equant’s global management process, delivering high-quality managed services from centers in London, Sydney, Atlanta and Clearwater, Fla.

HP OpenView consolidates alarms in real-time across hardware and software platforms and enables the root causes of problems to be identified more quickly and consistently for complete services. The remedial action to restore service can be taken from any of Equant’s global support centers enabling customers to benefit from Equant’s follow-the-sun operations, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

HP OpenView is an industry standard, used by more than 140,000 companies. It allows for unlimited growth as Equant and the market dictate and expands the breadth of the solutions portfolio Equant offers.

“The expansion of our commitment to HP OpenView marks an organic improvement in our service levels,” said Paul Richman, Equant’s vice president, Global Managed Services. “We are increasing our investment in a universal management system that is an integral part of our evolution as a global managed services provider.”

A single integrated management platform is more efficient giving Equant the dual benefits of being able to cost effectively expand its managed services portfolio while delivering better customer service at the same time.

Atlanta-based Equant operates the world’s largest network, providing voice, data, Internet, integration and application services to companies around the globe. The network reaches key business centers in more than 220 countries and territories.
