Home Depot Automates Hiring to Land Tax Credits

Phoenix-based ITax Group Inc. announced today that The Home Depot will use its Web-based job tax credit screening automation service. JobCredits is designed to screen applicants for national, state and local hiring-related tax credit programs — potentially saving companies thousands or even millions of dollars.

The latest version of JobCredits, which ITax Group announced on Monday, features Web Services integration capabilities with hiring systems via XML and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP). Version 2.0 also includes, according to ITax Group, advanced reporting features, a more intuitive user interface and a Spanish language option.

The enhanced features are designed to allow Atlanta-based Home Depot to integrate its hiring kiosks at more than 1,200 stores nationwide, according to Kathleen Bullock, income tax manager at The Home Depot.

“Following an exhaustive search, The Home Depot found that ITax Group was unique in its ability to deliver a complete and proven, rapidly deployable solution for capturing and reporting job tax credits,” Bulllock said. “The actual implementation took less than two weeks to complete.”

About 80 percent of Fortune 500 companies are using some type of paper-based system to screen for job tax credits, according to Wayne C. Neale, vice president of marketing at ITax Group. JobCredits automatically generates reports on the entire tax-screening process.

Managers can make hiring decisions based on the knowledge that the company will benefit from tax credits, Neale said. ITax Group also handles the filing and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with various government programs.
