Kintera Acquires Donation Depot

Kintera Inc., an ASP that focuses on the nonprofit sector, today announced that it has acquired Donation Depot, a Tacoma, Wash. ASP that specializes in helping organization such as United Way agencies and higher education institutions manage donations.

“Now that we are equipped with the combination of Donation Depot and Kintera suite of online tools, we will grow existing customer relations and accelerate our market penetration,” Brandon Fix, founder and CEO of Donation Depot, said. Fix will become a director at Kintera, according to a company statement.

Under terms of the agreement, Kintera will acquire the following:

  • Workplace Pro, software designed to implement and manage a fundraising campaign for workplace giving. The Workplace Pro for United Way version is built specifically to allow United Way agencies to process and manage employee-giving campaigns. Kintera will now offer an expanded package to United Way with the Kintera Sphere comprehensive service platform.
  • NPO Pro, software designed for the higher education market. Kintera reports that the 20 NPO Pro customers will be offered upgrades to Kintera Sphere.
  • Spotlight Membership, a consumer portal that’s designed to offer a secure online giving community and features an automated donation service. Kintera will provide this portal offering to its Kintera Planner magazine publisher partners, the company said.

“With the strong foothold Donation Depot has gained in the higher education and United Way markets, together with Kintera’s technology leadership in the nonprofit sector, we will grow our market presence,” Kintera’s CEO and Founder, Harry Gruber, M.D. said.

San Diego-based Kintera’s Knowledge Interaction solutions are designed to help nonprofits, faith-based groups, educational institutions, associations use a Web-based services to build communities, manage contacts, distribute communications, create content and run reports.
