Small business solutions provider NetLedger Inc. Tuesday (Sept 26) announced an alliance with San Francisco-based eBenefits to bring together online accounting with human resources services.

As the first step of the agreement, both companies will offer co-branded services to their users. Effective immediately, NetLedger customers have access to a co-branded site where they can sign up for eBenefits HR services. eBenefits customers, in turn, have the same access to NetLedger’s accounting solution.

The second phase of the agreement will result in a full integration between NetLedger and eBenefits VirtualHR. This will allow an exchange of appropriate data between the two applications. Users will enjoy synchronization of employee information between applications and a single sign-on for the two services. The integration is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

“This partnership with eBenefits, coupled with ADP’s EasyPayNet integration, represents another giant leap forward in our strategy to use the NetLedger accounting solution as a springboard to virtually any and all services that a small company needs to keep its operations running efficiently and with minimal effort,” said Evan Goldberg, president and CEO of NetLedger.

eBenefits provides human resources services to entrepreneurs and growing businesses. It manages benefits, maintains employee records, generates HR reports, tracks compliance requirements and facilitates recruiting. eBenefits includes an employee self-service capability that, for example, allows new hires to complete and submit W-2 and benefits enrollment forms online.

“We’re helping entrepreneurs start-up, manage and grow by solving an important business issue: how to cut costs and focus on the business when they have limited in-house resources to manage employment-related responsibilities,” said Andy Kurtzig, CEO of eBenefits.

eBenefits VirtualHR is the latest service to be integrated into Netledger’s platform. Complementing its original accounting offering are services from partners like Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP), OfficeMax, OneCore.com, Stamps.com, New England Business Service, CyberBills, Red Gorilla, BigStep.com, Innovative Merchant Solutions and AuctionWorks.
