Oracle Gets Personal About E-Commerce

Helping its Oracle9i Application Server (Oracle9iAS) customers to more easily create, manage and deploy personalized e-Commerce Web sites, software giant Oracle Corp. , yesterday announced an agreement with Art Technology Group, Inc. (ATG) to provide Oracle9iAS support for ATG’s Dynamo e-Business Platform and e-business applications.

“We have decided to work together because of growing market demand for Oracle9iAS,” says Lauren Kelley, senior vice president of Strategic Development at ATG.

“The ATG and Oracle solution will provide a platform to easily create and deploy e-business applications. Oracle9i Application Server is a compelling choice for enterprise companies that need a scalable and reliable deployment platform for critical Internet applications,” she continues.

The Oracle9iAS Application Server, competitive in the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) application server market, is designed for easier deployment of Web applications. Oracle says that in combining its functionality with the Java-based ATG Dynamo platform and its personalization of ATG e-commerce applications, will help companies can create dynamic Web sites.

Additionally, Oracle says the union allows enterprise companies to personalize and manage business relationships, improve operations within the enterprise and enable collaboration and transactions across multiple channels.

“Oracle provides a complete and integrated application server to run J2EE applications,” says Chuck Rozwat, executive vice president of Server Technology, at Oracle Corp. “By working with partners such as ATG, we offer enterprises an end-to-end deployment and management platform to run their Internet applications.”
